Harold Washington Literary Award Dinner Committee

Nancy will be a guest of the Near South Planning Board as one of the authors participating in the Authors in the School program .. where throughout the school year she visits various schools reading her books and providing activities for kids at each assigned school by the Near South Planning Board.

This event kicks off the Printers Row Lit Fest.

Printers Row Lit Fest ..is an annual Book fair and literacy festival held in Chicago .
Printers Row Lit Fest is the Midwest’s largest gathering of book lovers .. hosts over 200 authors

The Harold Washington Literary Award recognizes diverse and stimulating authors who address issues of contemporary life. The award’s goal is to present examples to the public of creative uses of the written word.

Cocktails at 6:00 p.m.
Dinner & Presentation at 7:00 p.m. – Main Dining Room

This prestigious award has been given annually since 1989 by Near South Planning Board. Rita Dove will receive this year’s Harold Washington Literary Award, which recognizes the significant achievement of writers whose work resonates with readers and makes a mark in the world.
The annual fund raising event of the Near South Planning Board raises funds for the organization’s year-round Authors in the School educational outreach program.
